Not an official authority
Japan Driving License is independent. It is not affiliated with the National Police Agency, any prefectural police department, JAF or a driving school.
Prefectural variation
Licence procedures are administered locally. Appointment systems, accepted evidence, fees, test languages and processing times may differ.
No legal advice
Our articles summarise public information for education. Only the relevant authority can decide whether you may drive, whether documents are valid, or whether an exemption applies.
Practice questions
Practice questions are not a live copy of an official exam and do not guarantee the exact wording or selection you will receive.
Safety
When there is any doubt about licence validity, do not drive until the police or another competent authority confirms your status.
Prefectural and individual differences
Licence centres can apply different booking methods, supported languages, document checks and local procedures. An applicant’s nationality, residence status, travel history, licence class and issuing authority can also change what is required. A general guide cannot determine the outcome of an individual application.
Dates, fees and processing times
Published amounts and time estimates are snapshots from the cited material or clearly identified market examples. They may change after publication and may exclude photographs, translations, transport, retesting, additional lessons or document procurement. Confirm the current total directly with the responsible authority or service provider before making a payment.
Translations and multilingual content
Translations are provided to improve understanding, but legal and administrative meaning may depend on Japanese source material. Machine-assisted or human-reviewed translations can still contain ambiguity. When wording affects eligibility, safety or a formal application, ask the responsible authority or a qualified interpreter to confirm the meaning.
Driving safety
Nothing on this site authorises unsafe or illegal driving. Follow road signs, police instructions and current traffic law. In an emergency, use the appropriate Japanese emergency service rather than relying on a website article. Practical driving ability requires supervised instruction and real-world judgement, not only written-question practice.
Third-party services and advertising
Links and advertisements may lead to organisations we do not control. Inclusion does not automatically mean endorsement, official status or a guarantee of quality. Check prices, cancellation terms, language support, accreditation and contractual conditions directly with the provider. Sponsored relationships should be disclosed where they exist.

Use the site at your own judgement and verify important decisions. Report a suspected error with the page URL and supporting source to support@japandrivinglicense.com.
